Latex Mattresses

People are now slowly changing from chemical/synthetic to completely organic products. The trend has seen a visible shift in food, clothes, cosmetics and now even mattress materials. Are there even any organic mattresses available? The answer to that question is a resounding yes! There are 100% organic mattresses on the market, and these mattresses are latex mattresses.

Latex Is Natural Rubber

Latex is the white colored fluid that is harvested from the rubber tree to make foam, rubber and latex products. In the case of a mattress made of latex there are two techniques in turning rubber into the mattresses we see in the stores.

One method involves whisking the liquid vigorously until air bubbles get mixed in giving the rubber a different viscosity and bounce and is called Dunlop Latex. The other manufacturing method is to whip the rubber in order to insert air bubbles into the mixture and then stretching it with the help of special vacuum machinery resulting in what is known as Talaly latex. This method results in a much higher quality of latex and is much more comfortable than Dunlop latex.

Are Organic Latex Beds Better?

Many people would naturally think that an organic mattress is better and they would be right. Natural latex mattresses are made from all natural materials and therefore are environment friendly. And a natural latex mattress is dustproof and allergy proof because latex contains ingredients that repel dust mites.

Natural latex beds are extremely airy unlike normal mattresses, which can become uncomfortably hot in the summer and chilly in the winter. Because latex is a material that breathes freely it works exactly the opposite and is very cool in the summer and warm and comfy in the winter.

Finally there is the comfort factor. People who use latex mattresses say they are the most comfortable of all mattresses. Latex excels in giving your body just enough firmness and support to enable you to get a great night’s rest.
